Using Languages, Products, Attributes & Phrases in Projects

Each element of Translation Management (Languages, Products, Attributes, Phrases) can be used independently or collectively in a Smartflow project. For example, some use cases may only require the use of Products and Attributes to provide a product hierarchy, with no requirement for Phrases or Languages. Other use cases may use all four elements.

To use these elements in projects, we use project data. An administrator can define project data fields for each of these elements (Languages, Products, Attributes, Phrases) and this allows a user (either project initiator/owner or task owner) to select from the values stored in the database.

Where Translations are required to be added into Smartflow projects from the Translation Database, then as a minimum, both Language and Phrase project data fields are required: Language data field to determine the Translations Languages required to display and Phrase data field/s to determine which phrases are to be added. Product and Attribute data fields can also be included, and can, if required, be used to control phrase selection. For more information, see section on Relationships below.
