Configuring Electronic Signatures

Electronic signatures (ERES) gives you the ability to authenticate users when they perform various activities in Smartflow. Single Sign-On (SSO) must be configured to use ERES. For more information, see Configuring Single Sign-On (SSO).

Add an Authentication Connection

To configure ERES in Smartflow, use the following procedure to add an authentication connection.

  1. Go to the Admin  page.
  2. From Access Admin Function, select Loftware Setting > Authentication Settings, and then click Go.
  3. Click Add New Connection.
  4. For Type, select SAML2.
  5. For Name, enter a unique identifying name (without spaces) to display in Smartflow.
  6. Select the is Enabled check box to enable the authentication setting in Smartflow.
  7. For Login Label, enter a display name for the connection to be shown on the Smartflow Sign In page.
  8. For Connection Type, select ERES.
  9. Next to Configuration File, click the Template button to download a configuration file template. Open the template file in a text editor.
  10. Enter values for the properties in the configuration file, then save and close the file.
  11. Next to Configuration File, click the Upload button and select your modified configuration file.
  12. Click Confirm.

    Tip: To use ERES, a user must already be configured to use SSO as an external userClosed Users that are authenticated by SSO using SAML2 or OAUTH2. or an external directory userClosed Users that are authenticated by SSO using OATH2 and their permissions are managed using a Directory Service.. ERES Settings

In certain areas of Smartflow, you can select whether to require an electronic signature from a user. All areas have ERES enabled by default, but it may be helpful to disable ERES in a non-regulated environment. To disable ERES, use the following procedure.

  1. Go to the Admin  page.
  2. From Access Admin Function, select Loftware Setting > Other Setting, and then click Go.
  3. For ERES Settings, clear the check box next for the areas where you do not want to require ERES from a user:
    • Phrase Library Administration (for example, add a relationship or check in/out phrase or translation)
    • Phrase Library Translation Workflows (for example, check in/out phrase or translation)
    • Master Datasheet Administration (for example, check in/out row)
    • Master Datasheet Workflows (for example, check in/out row)
  4. Click Confirm.
